Story: Some Eskimo tribes in Canada believed Labradorite to have fallen from the Aurora Borealis. The myth goes the Northern Lights were once trapped in rocks along the coast of Labrador. One day, one of the ancestors struck a rock with his spear. The rock broke and many off the lights were set free, flying out into the sky, but some of the lights remained trapped in the stone. Many ancient magical practices were connected to the stone which was also called ‘fire rock’ or ‘firestone’. Another story involving Labradorite says it has ancestral roots in the lost city of Atlantis.

Physical: Labradorite helps stimulate physical activity and 'kick start' the energy needed to get into action. Making it a great stone for athletes. Labradorite is a stone that generates warmth and can help with muscle release. Flat stones can be used for massage, especially for the back. Immersing the stone in any massage oil creates an infusion that can be then used for topical applications. 

Chinese Medicine: Labradorite has a connection with the kidneys and assists with the detoxification process of the body and as a diuretic.

Crystal Care: Cleanse under running water and recharge on a rock of Crystal Quartz or Hematite. If you feel the Labradorite needs a boost or maybe a deep cleansing, try an earth bath. Dig a hole into the best natural soil you can find, place your stone directly in the soil, leave it for at least a day before retrieving it and cleaning with running water. 

Works well with: Labradorite harmonises particularly well with Moonstone, known for its pearly white pastel hues and moonlight-like sheen and Sunstone, named for its warm shades of gold, orange, reds and browns that sparkle like the sun. All three are members of the Feldspar stone family.
